TOMORROW’S LUNAR ECLIPSE
From a star psychology perspective
A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth moves between the Sun and Moon, casting the Moon in red shadow; a so-called Blood Moon.
Symbolically, eclipses mark turning points. They expose what has been building quietly. They bring matters to culmination. They interrupt patterns.
They don’t ask for passive reflection.
They demand conscious participation.
The archetypal forces at play from a Star Psychology perspective
This eclipse activates two opposing but essential forces:
1. The Doubtful Thinker
This is the part of you that questions, analyses, investigates. At its highest expression, doubt becomes drives the enquiry forward in a healthy way. It cuts through illusion. It asks: Is this true, for now? Is this aligned? At its lowest, it loses itself in the doubts, eroding confidence, picking apart possibilities before they’ve had time to breathe.
2. The Boundless Imaginer
The second player, which is the twin of the Doubtful Thinker, is the Boundless Imaginer, standing opposite the Doubtful Thinker on the great astrological wheel. This is the visionary within you. The one who connects all the experiential threads, personal and collective, all the lived experience. And from that, it senses what the next step might be. At its highest, imagination becomes pure illumination. At its lowest, there is no internal editor, and overwhelm becomes confusion.
3. The Firekeeper
And then we have a third element that kicked in two weeks ago. This was the place of the new moon. And what kickstarted the process was the recent new moon, stirred up by the Firekeeper. This is all about a desire to live life to the full, experience everything, good or bad. At its lowest level it can become a fear of missing out, but at its highest, it is a pure lightness of being around riding the waves of life, both the ups and the downs.
The role of the eclipse
The eclipse asks us what must happen for that spark to become sustainable fire?
And that releases the tension between the Doubtful Inquirer and the Boundless Imaginer.
Either investigating your dream to death and losing yourself in doubt
Or romanticising it beyond structure and becoming overwhelmed and confused.
This shadow dance expresses itself in paralysed overthinking and shrinking back, or in impulsivity, confusion, second-guessing, and chasing thrills.
However, if that where you have been lost in the past two weeks, and your dream is threatening to be buried, I want you to take a deep breath, pull your shoulders back, and reconnect with the witnessing self, the deeper wiser core of your being, you can lift the process to something more productive: a lightness of spirit around your plans (the aligned Firekeeper), doubt that supports inquiry into the validity of the plans (the aligned Doubtful Thinker), and an analysis of potential outcomes based on lived experience, driven by imagination and illumination, (the aligned Boundless Imaginer)
And then revisit the spark of two weeks ago from this more trusting this more living perspective.
And remember, an eclipse temporarily obscures the reflected light of the sun on the moon. And we can become blinded to our emotional baggage through that process. And psychologically, it means that it may feel like one archetype is trying to dominate the other.
You may feel more flooded with possibility than logic or you may be gripped more with logic than imagination. But the work is not to eliminate one, or the other, but to consciously integrate both.
Because when imagination outruns inquiry, you drift.
When inquiry crushes imagination, you stall.
When they align? You build something real.
Where in your chart is this happening for you?
To find out which particular life themes this applies to in your life, you need to find the houses where Virgo and Pisces sit in your birth chart.
If I use myself as an example, the axis falls across the 1st house of the self, in Virgo, and the 7th house of partnership in Pisces. And what I have worked out is that the question I am being asked to bounce around in the energy of the three archetypes is this; how can I receive the supportiveness of the partnerships I am being offered, without losing my autonomy?
Your question will be different. The players of the Star Psychology family will be the same. And it will be just as specific.
Just as personal.
And just as catalytic.
Summary of how to work with it
What desire, what new life experience ignited two weeks ago?
Where have you been circling in doubt or drifting in confusion?
What needs to end so that this can evolve?
What would it look like to let inquiry and imagination collaborate?
And if you want to know which of your houses this is happening in, then go to a trusted site like astro.com and have them draw up your birth chart. No affiliation, I just like them!
Or you can ask me too. Click on the button below.
Finally, this eclipse is not about choosing between these two, but about allowing both to mature and realign with that deeper compass that resides within you, the witnessing self.
Something is completing.
Something is clarifying.
Something is ready to move.
Wishing you a fruitful lunar eclipse!
